Nguyen Phu Trong, Chairman of the 11th National Assembly, has been re-elected to be Chairman of the 12th NA with 97.97 percent of votes.
Also at the July 23 session, four deputy NA Chairmen were elected, namely Nguyen Duc Kien, Uong Chu Luu, Tong Thi Phong and Huynh Ngoc Son.
Voters also elected 13 members of the NA Standing Committee, including K’sor Phuoc, Nguyen Van Thuan, Le Thi Thu Ba, Ha Van Hien, Phung Quoc Hien, Le Quang Binh, Dao Trong Thi, Truong Thi Mai, Dang Vu Minh, Nguyen Van Son, Pham Minh Tuyen, Tran The Vuong and Tran Dinh Dan.
Delivering an oath taking speech, NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong said that he will closely co-ordinate with the State President, the Prime Minister, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuracy, the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee, NA agencies and deputies to accomplish his job.
Chairman Trong recommended Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet as candidate for the position of State President.
As scheduled, the NA deputies will work in group to discuss personnel for the post of State President in the afternoon. Voters will elect State President at the July 24 plenary session.
