State President Nguyen Minh Triet has asked Vietnamese diplomats to promote the image of a peaceful and stable Vietnam which is keeping pace with the world so that people in other countries have a better understanding of Vietnam.

State President Nguyen Minh Triet on August 29 gave decisions to 22 newly-appointed Vietnamese Ambassadors and representatives of the State President in a number of countries as well as in the International Francophonie Organization.

He asked them to fulfill the three main tasks of political diplomacy, economic diplomacy and cultural diplomacy and intensify propaganda activities to foil hostile forces’ schemes of distorting the truth about Vietnam.

The Ambassadors should perform well to help domestic enterprises penetrate foreign markets and play an active role in resolving trade disputes, said Mr Triet.

Among them, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Cong Phung was appointed Vietnamese Ambassador to the US and Nguyen Phu Binh was appointed Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan.
