Today (Sep. 24), Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his high-ranking delegation left Hanoi for New York to attend join discussions of the annual 62nd session of the United Nations Security Council.
The join discussions will be held at the UN Headquarter in New York from Sep. 25-28. Then, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will pay official visit to the Republic of France from Sep. 30-Oct. 3.

Vietnam’s role in the UN has been increased thanks to its success in implementing renewal and open policies of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese State on the spirit of “Vietnam wills be friends, reliable partners of countries in the international community for peace, independence and development”.
Vietnam’s being nominated for non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2008-2009 periods by Asian country will be a favorable conditions for the country to further contribute to development of the UN in the future.
