Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked cabinet members to focus on implementing targets of this year’s plan, particularly controlling inflation, stabilising the macro economy and ensuring social welfare security.
At the Government’s regular meeting in Hanoi on March 26-27, the PM instructed ministries and branches to issue concrete guidance on removing obstacles in capital disbursement for infrastructure construction and providing support for disadvantaged people, while paying due attention to administrative reform, corruption combat and thrift practice.
At the meeting, Cabinet members also discussed draft revisions to several laws, including the laws on drug prevention, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the State Bank of Vietnam , credit organisations, road traffic, the enforcement of civil judgments and nationality.
Regarding the Bill on Road Traffic, they agreed that the permissible concentration level of alcohol in motorbike riders’ blood should be reduced from under 80 milligrams to 50 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood.
The Government officials also agreed to revise the 1998 Nationality Law’s Article 3 on one nationality, saying that the stipulation does not catch up with the integration trend as well as the heartfelt aspiration of a great number of Vietnamese people living abroad.
