President Ho Chi Minh’s 118th birthday has been widely celebrated over the past few days, enlightening the entire nation with memories of the life of Vietnam’s first President.
In Hanoi , the Ho Chi Minh Museum, in association with the Overseas Vietnamese Committee, has opened an exhibition of relations of the late President with the Vietnamese community overseas. The display includes almost 200 objects, documents and images.
On May 18, the Ho Chi Minh City Television Station held a ceremony to announce winners of a journalistic contest themed “Ho Chi Minh, Your High Excellency is Belief of Inevitable Triumph”.
Huynh Thi My Phung from the Kien Giang Radio and Television Station won one of the two first prizes for singing a reformed traditional operatta about sacred passion towards the President. The other first prize was awarded to Dang thi Hoang Oanh from the HCM City Radio station for her story about modern Vietnam following the example of President Ho.
Phung Thi Lan Huong from the Hanoi Radio and Television Station was awarded a special prize for her story about Uncle Ho’s visit to an orphanage.
The HCM City Television Station took the opportunity to launch a 60 part TV series about the President’s 30 year revolutionary journey in which he crossed 22 countries.
Thanh Hoa province held a poster festival about the late President with 98 documentary pictures and 83 posters put on show.
