From March 2009, for the first time, the Government will hold its regular meeting through a videoconference, with the participation of chairmen of provincial People’s Committees. During the meeting, Government members will use computers to present their reports and discussions.
According to Minister and Head of the Office of the Government, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the videoconference shows the Government’s determination in carrying out e-Government strategies, in order to save time, and increase efficiency in the dissemination of the Government’s and the Prime Minister’s directions.
“Through the videoconference, provincial leaders can talk with the Prime Minister and Government about issues of great concern,” he said. “The Prime Minister will also give them direct guidance during the videoconference.”
So far the technical work has been well prepared for the Government’s first online regular meeting.
Earlier, in a direction, the Prime Minister asked ministries and sectors to hold national meetings via internet conferences.
After his swearing-in ceremony, in February 2007, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung held an online dialogue with people, which was praised domestically and internationally.
The Government’s March meeting is expected to be held from March 30 to April 1.
