The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee met in Hanoi on June 29 to mull the nation’s socio-economic strategy for 2011-2020 under the chair of Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.

Manh said the strategy should contain comprehensive reforms towards industrialisation and modernisation under the Socialist orientation

During the 8 day sitting, which is held in preparation for the Party’s 11 th Congress scheduled for early 2011, the Party elite is to review both the successes and failures in implementing the 2001-10 socio-economic strategy as a foundation for the next decade scheme.

Vietnam has set itself the target to become an industrial economy in principle by 2020.
