Vietnam-China friendship meeting kicks off

As many as 100 young people from China joined their Vietnamese peers at the Vietnam-China Youth Friendship Meeting that opened in Hanoi on Jan. 17.

Opening the event, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh said the meeting is a good chance for young people from the two nations to exchange information about youth affairs and movements among teenagers and children.

Within the framework of the meeting, the delegates will discuss issues of mutual concern, share experiences in the youth union work, especially in educating young people and encouraging them to participate in socio-economic development, building the community and ensuring social security, he said.

Vinh added that the participating delegates will also seek ways of increase friendship and cooperation activities between young people from Vietnam and China .

The head of the Chinese delegation affirmed that the Parties and States of the two countries always treasure and support these friendship meetings, considering them an important part of the bilateral friendship.

Generations of young people will continue to follow the “16-word” motto (Friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-lasting stability and looking toward the future) and the “four-good” spirit (Good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners) as set out by their senior leaders.

As part of the meeting, exchange activities will be going on until Jan. 25 in Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City , the central city of Da Nang and the north-eastern province of Quang Ninh .

During their stay in Vietnam , the Chinese youths will visit a number of landscapes and study Vietnam ’s cultural and historical traditions as well as its strong development.
