The drive “Study and follow Ho Chi Minh’s moral example” has helped speed up administrative reforms, corruption combat and thrifty practice, has said Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.
Manh, who is also head of the Central Drive Steering Board, also said at a conference held in Hanoi on December 12 to review the movement’s four year progress that it has become a nationwide political practice deeply rooted in Party organisations, administrations at all levels, social and professional associations.
He emphasised that it was a correct and sound decision to launch the movement as it met the Party’s policy and public aspiration.
He called on leaders of agencies, industries and administrations at all levels to set an example in following Uncle Ho’s example as guarantee for the movement’s success.
Efforts should be made to expand the movement and make it rooted deep in every citizen, every family and the social life to build a good lifestyle and noble life goal, urged the Party leader.
His view was echoed by Truong Tan Sang, Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committees’ Secretariat, and deputy head of the drive steering board. He said the movement has proven the Party’s sound and practical policy that has helped strengthen the political system and upgrade the society’s moral foundation.
He added that the movement has also met public aspiration and people’s love to the “beloved Uncle Ho”.
The steering board’s report on the progress made in the movement showed that the movement has made a great change for the better in the lifestyle, working style and the self-training determination of the Party members, public employees and the entire society.
Uncle Ho has set an example in a hard-working, thrifty, incorrupt, just, public-spirited and selfless lifestyle.
The drive has upheld his example with concrete targets focusing on administrative reforms, corruption combat, thrifty practice and spread it nationwide in order to build a moral foundation for the Party and the entire society, said the report.
Feedbacks to the steering board have shown that a majority of public employees, Party members and ordinary people have welcomed and responded positively to the movement. They said it is a practical action that has brought in goodness for individual citizens, families, communities and the nation as a whole.
Delegates from industries, central agencies and local administrations present at the meeting reached an overwhelming consensus on extending the drive for the coming years.
In recognition of their excellent records in the movement over the past four years, 59 units have been awarded the Labour Order, third class, a high State distinction. Other 72 units and 1,012 individuals have been presented the Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit.
