Police force marks 65th anniversary
14:53', 18/8/ 2010 (GMT+7)

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has praised the efforts and achievements the police force has made since its establishment in 1945.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark the 65th anniversary of the force on August 17, PM Dung stressed that the Party and State always highly value the police’s feat of arms, contributions and sacrifice to the country’s revolutionary cause.

All the force’s staff have displayed their firm political spirit and faithfulness to the Party, State, the country and people, he said.

The police force has practised to improve their virtue and revolutionary morality, worked closely with the people’s army and other branches and fulfilled their duties for national security and order, the PM added.

In a context where the world is getting more complicated with hidden contingencies, police force duties become harder. Therefore, they should uphold their key role and mobilise the strength of the whole political system and people to join the fight against crime and maintain security and order, the PM said.

He also called on people to continue to uphold patriotic tradition, heighten revolutionary vigilance and positively engage in ensuring national security.

In his speech, Minister of Public Security Le Hong Anh reviewed the achievements the police force has made during the past 65 years.

During the country’s 20-year renewal process, nearly 200 police sacrificed their lives in the fight against crime for national security and order, he said.
