Vietnam’s efforts in regulatory and administrative reform have received approval from officials of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and many countries.

The country reported on its reforms at an OECD conference themed “Better policies for better lives” in France from April 11-13.

Vietnam was one of three Asian countries that OECD invited to attend the conference, which drew the participation of 35 member countries and a number of observers, including Vietnam, Malaysia and Tunisia.

The Vietnamese delegation to the conference was headed by the Deputy Director of the Administrative Procedures Control Department under the Government Office, Nguyen Van Lam.

On the sidelines of the conference, Lam also held working sessions with the Head of the OECD Division on Regulatory Policy Nick Malyshev, the senior regulatory expert at the French Ministry of Economy and Finance Charles Henry and the Head of the Republic of Korea Regulatory Reform Department Park Jarry-Ho.

The OECD Division on Regulatory Policy pledged more assistance to Vietnam in technical and personnel training and exchange of experience regarding administrative reform.

According to Lam, Vietnam has received OECD’s attention, especially since the country started the second phase of the administrative reform project. The OECD has made many constructive recommendations to help Vietnam speed up this process, he added.
