National Assembly concludes third session
7:40', 22/6/ 2012 (GMT+7)

The National Assembly concluded its third session on June 21 after a month of sitting.

During the third session starting on May 21, the National Assembly discussed and passed 13 laws and a number of resolutions.

The last day of the session saw the approval of three laws, including the law on Advertisement, the amended Law on Water Resources and the Law of the Sea.

The deputies also endorsed several resolutions, including a resolution on taxation measures to help remove difficulties for businesses and individuals.

Addressing the closing ceremony, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung affirmed the session has been a success.

“The National Assembly requests the Government and all sectors to continue implementing necessary measures and mobilising all resources to fulfill socio-economic tasks for the year 2012 and the targets set by the National Assembly’s resolutions,” he said.

He stressed the need to carry out the economic restructuring and complete mechanisms on capital and asset management in State groups and corporations.

The Government and relevant agencies should pay attention to helping businesses have access to credit capital and develop new markets, Hung said, adding that they need to have roadmaps on fighting the monopoly in the electricity and coal sectors, solve problems on land management and prevent wastefulness in land use.

The Chairman asked relevant sectors and agencies to ensure implementation of the NA’s resolutions and NA deputies to arrange meetings promptly to report the session’s outcomes to voters nationwide and listen to their complaints.

Earlier, on June 20, the National Assembly adopted five laws, including the Law on Price, the Law on Judicial Assessment, the Law on Legal Dissemination and Education, the Law on Dealing with Administrative Violations and the amended Law on Trade Union.

On June 18 the laws on Deposit Insurance, Anti-Money Laundering, Tertiary Education, Tobacco Control and the revised Labour Code were all passed.

During the session, National Assembly deputies also commented on six other draft laws and debated many issues of public concern. They spent two and a half days questioning several Cabinet members, including Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Minister of Public Security, Tran Dai Quang and Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh, on matters under their charge.
