A Kon-Tolok village craftsman is weaving brocade

25 out of 66 households in Kon-Tolok village, Vinh Thinh Commune, Vinh Thanh District has recovered their traditional brocade weaving. According to the village’s craftsmen, it takes them 10 days to weave a male suit and 15 days to make a set of female suit (including quilt, shirt and scarf). The male suit can be sold at VND250.000/set (roughly USD15.5/set)  while price of the female suit is VND 500.000-600.000/set (USD 31-37.5/set). Daily average income of one craftman is about VND25.000-30.000 (USD1,6-1,8). The products are on sale not only within the district but also in other localities inside and outside Binh Dinh province .

The recovery of traditional brocade weaving both promotes employment and income generation for the local ethnic people and helps to preserve ethnic cultural characteristics.
