* 3 accused people on remand

Yesterday afternoon (16th January 2007), People’s Procuracy of Binh Dinh Province approved a decision to put 6 accused people into introduction of instance. The 6 cases are convicted over being remiss in their duties, letting the fire catastrophe take place at Quy Nhon-Cho Lon market in the 16th December 2006 evening. The conflagration seriously damanges to property of government and local people.
Ex-chief of Quy Nhon-Cho Lon Market Management Board (Cho Lon MB) Do Thanh Tam (born in 1956), former Vice-chief of Cho Lon MB Do Thanh Tan (1948), former Cice-chief of the market security force Pham Viet Ngo (1960), two former security guards of the market Nguyen Thanh Hai (1952) and Doan Binh (1954) were alleged “to be irresponsible in their duties, leading to the grave damage” in conformity with Article 285 of Criminal Law. Another former security guard Doan Dinh Tri (1964) was accused for “violation of fire prevention and fighting regulations” in accordance with Article 240 of the Criminal Law.
People’s Procuracy of Binh Dinh Province gave its approval to a warrant for temporary 4-month detention of Mr. Do Thanh Tam, Mr. Pham Viet Ngo and Mr. Doan Dinh Tri convicted of the above-mentioned offences. Mr. Do Thanh Tan, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai and Mr. Doan Binh are put under house arrest.
At 9a.m today (17th January 2007), investigation police of BinhDinhProvince arrested the 3 accused people: Tam, Ngo, Tri.
