Conference on enhancing malaria diagnosis, treatment

Institute of Malariology-Parasitology-Entomology Quy Nhon on October 23 held a conference on enhancing the malaria diagnosis and treatment.

Leaders of local and Central Departments of Health and hospitals, representatives of 15 central and central highlands provinces, and WHO's experts in Vietnam attended the conference.

In the first nine months of 2007, there have been 8 death cases owing to the malaria in the central and central highlands region. 75.85% of death cases was due to the late hospitalization, leading to serious side effects.

At the conference, the application of the 2007 malaria diagnosis and treatment instructions, and reasons and solutions to reduce death ratio were discussed.
