October-social-economic situation: positive moves

Binh Dinh Province People's Committee on November 2 held a meeting for the summation of the social-economic situation in October and solutions for key tasks for the next two months.

The agricultural production in October was badly affected by flooding, but the breeding and the poultry epidemic prevention were paid a great concern. The industry sector well developed, in which the industrial production value was estimated to reach VND377.9 billion, a rise of 28.3%. The total export turnover recorded at nearly US$22.2 million, a year-on-year surge of 31.7%.

Localities and education and training bodies of all levels well conducted their tasks. 19,734 people received the vocational training and 2,075 houses were built for poor households, accounting for 75.8% of the yearly target.

At the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman Thien steered functional bodies and agencies to focus on the disaster prevention and control, the promotion of ground clearance and compensation, and preparations for Tet holiday 2008.
