Binh Dinh had the stable socio-economic development this year despite some difficulties, such as the spread of poultry and livestock epidemic, consistent floods, and the ever-increasing of price, according to reports at the meeting held on November 30.
The meeting, chaired by Permanent Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Province People's Committee, Nguyen Van Thien, reported that the GDP reached VND7,065,3 billion, a surge of 12.5 percent over 2006, in which agricultural, forest, and aquatic products, industry and construction, and serives recorded 4.3 percent, 25.2 percent, and 12.8 percent, respectively.
However, there also existed shortcomings like the slow progress in the planning, ground clearance, and construction of infrastructure at industrial zones. The illegal logging and deforestation happened in some areas. Fields of education and health still had limitations.
The key tasks for 2008 aim to gain the economic growth of 13-13.5 percent, in which agricultural, forest, and aquatic products will record 4-4.6 percent, industry and construction will record 25.5-26 percent, and serives will take 12.8-13 percent.
Social issues and the people's lives must be improved together with the economic development. The administrative reform needs to be continued and the State management has to be effectively enhanced.
