Sweden-funded SEMLA Programme in Binh Dinh Province gets high praise

On 8th and 9th March 2007, an Technical Advisory Supervision delegation of Vietnam-Sweden Cooperation SEMLA Programme(Strengthening Environmental Management and Land Administration) led by PhD. Lill Lundgren arrived Binh Dinh. The delegation made field visits, evaluating on management and technical assistance of advisory groups to Binh Dinh Province.

The delegation had meetings with Director of SEMLA Programme in Binh Dinh, Representative of the SEMLA provincial office, SEMLA technical advisors for Binh Dinh Province and Implementation Group of land use planning and strategic environmental impact assessment. The delegation also made field visit, monitored and evaluated pilot activities of SEMLA Programme in An Nhon District.

After 2 working days with relevant authorities, the delegation acknowledged satisfactory results of the SEMLA Programme in Binh Dinh. According to comment of PhD. Lill Lundgren, the SEMLA Programme in Binh Dinh, in spite of its over half-yearly implementation, did achieve good results, partly contributing to land and environment management capacity of the provincial officials, increasing awareness of local people about land use and environment protection, etc.
