Free eye-surgery for 1800 poor patients

On Thursday afternoon (12nd April) vice-chairwoman of Binh Dinh Province’s People Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh and officials of  Binh Dinh Province’s Health Department held a meeting with The Fred Hollows Foundation to judge the mid-term performance of the project “ Enhance protection against blindness with eye care programme for community in Binh Dinh”.

The project has been implemented in Binh Dinh within 3 years (2005-2008) with total expenses up to 490.000 USD, including the province’s corresponding fund of 67.397 USD. The project has been finished with 70% of the total expenses. The project is for supporting infrastructure, training management staff, nurses, and doctors in ophthalmology for initial eye-care activities, improving the awareness of community in preventing eye-related diseases, and performing free cataract surgery for 1.800 poor patients in Binh Dinh.
