In yesterday afternoon (17-4) in Quy Nhon city, Minister of Trade Truong Dinh Tuyen held a meeting with the leadership of Binh Dinh Provincial Committee of the Party and Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee, including Mr.Pham Van Thanh - Deputy Province Committee permanent secretary, and Mr.Vu Hoang Ha – Chairman of Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee (see photo).
On behalf of Binh Dinh Provincial Committee of the Party and Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee, Mr. Vu Hoang Ha informed some brief features of economy-society and trading activities in Binh Dinh over the past time. In the first quarter of 2007 the local GDP increased more than 12% compared with the same period last year; the economic structure has actively moved, etc. Especially, there have been 45 registed projects investing in Nhon Hoi economic zone with the total registed capital of over 3.5 billion USD so far. From now to 2010, Binh Dinh will actively join the WTO integration road, improving the competition of goods.
Some suggestions were also raised, such as: allowing Binh Dinh to be raw wood import center, creating conditions for Binh Dinh Petrol Company to frequently import through Quy Nhon Port, moving the petrol tub at Thi Nai Port, and petitioning the Government to increase the number of flights at Phu Cat airport, etc.
Minister of Trade Truong Dinh Tuyen highly appreciated the exertion of Binh Dinh province’s leadership, bodies and agencies in the economic and social development. According to the Minister, the important issue is that Binh Dinh has to find its long-term comparative initiatives to hasten the development. Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen also put forward some ideas for the economic-social development in Binh Dinh. As for immediate unsolved petitions, the Minister pledged to steer ministerial departments to solve soon, and to continue working with related ministries and agencies.
In the earlier morning, National Committee of International Economy Cooperation and Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee held a meeting for the dissemination of Vietnam’s WTO integration pledge.
At the meeting, Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen introduced the basic features of the history of world economic globalization development, 5 WTO’s main principles, Vietnam’s negotiation for WTO integration, and Vietnam’s opportunities and challenges when integrating the organization, etc.
