The provincial Farmers’ Union in the morning June 6 held an opening ceremony to construct the vocational training and farmer supporting center at the quarter No 5 of Nhon Phu ward in Quy Nhon city. Chairman of Vietnam Farmers’ Union Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Permanent Deputy Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Thanh, vice-chairman of Binh Dinh province People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thien and leaders of provincial departments, bodies and agencies attended the ceremony. The center is to be built on more than 13,000 sq.m of land, including a 3-storey-multifunctional building, a 2-storey-dormitory, a hall, classrooms, and workshop with the total capital investment of nearly VND9 billion, in which Vietnam Farmers’ Union invests VND7 billion in constructing the infrastructure, and the province contributes VND2 billion to buy equipments for the vocational training. From 2008-10, the center will annually provide the vocational training for 300 trainees belonging to farmers’ households, and after 2010 the training scale will be increased to 500 trainees per year. They will be trained in the following fields: handicraft, carpentry, fruit growing, poultry breeding, veterinary care, rural mechanics, civil electricity, and economic management.
Under the plan, the center is going to be operated on May 19, 2008.
