Binh Dinh province’s election Committee on June 13 held a meeting to summarize the 12^th National Assembly (NA) election. Nguyen Xuan Duong - the provincial Party committee Secretary, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, Chief of the provincial election Committee, Le Huu Loc – Vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Ngoc Tro – Vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Council-cum-Vice-chairman of the provincial election Committee attended the meeting.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tro, the preparations for the 12^th NA election in Binh Dinh were conducted on time, safely and legally, fulfilling all requirements. The propaganda which was various in forms partly contributed to improve the people’s duty and awareness of building the State through the election. Five steps in the negotiation as well as the collection of voters’ comments and candidates’ information were well conducted. Also, meetings between voters and candidates were held carefully, fairly and democratically. The political and public order before, during and after the election was absolutely good.

At the meeting, some shortcomings were also mentioned. The propaganda for the election in remote and isolated areas was still limited, such as the visual propaganda was not enough, there were only a few venues for meetings between voters and candidates, and not many the people took part in the meeting. Besides, in some places the population management was not good, which made lists of votes inaccurate.

On this occasion, the provincial People’s Committee granted certificates of merit to 16 units and 18 individuals (including Binh Dinh newspaper’s Politics-Society Board and 2 reporters) who had achievements in the preparation for the 12^th NA election.
