Binh Dinh Education and Training Department in the afternoon June 17 has announced the results of the graduation exams for senior secondary schools and continuation senior schools in 2007.
For senior secondary schools, there were 12,336 high-school graduates in the whole province this year, accounting for 71.37%. There were 72 high-school graduates with excellent degrees, recording the rate of 0.58%, 1,007 with good degrees (8.16%). Tran Van Tri, a student of Nguyen Tran high school (Hoai Nhon district), was the one graduating with the highest point of 57,5.
Le Quy Don gifted high school saw the highest passing rate at 100% in which there were 31 graduates with excellent degrees, followed by Quoc Hoc high school with 99.5%. The An Lao boarding high school for ethnic minorities and Nguyen Binh Khiem high school (Hoai An district) saw the lowest passing rates at 16.1% and 39.33% respectively.
For continuation senior schools, there were 113 out of 1,004 students graduating, recording the passing rate of 10.8%.
Nationwide, the passing rate in 16 cities and provinces was estimated to stand between 70 and 79.9%, 7 provinces and cities had the passing rate at between 80-95%, and the rest were below 70%.
Also, in yesterday afternoon the provincial Education and Training Department held a meeting with headmasters of the provincial senior high schools to conduct the preparations for the second graduation exam which is to held in August. In the morning of June 18 students failing in the first graduation exam will register for reviewing at high schools they had registered for the first one.
With the second graduation exam, the Department proposed to set up one exam board in each district and five in Quy Nhon city (including 2 for the senior secondary graduation exam and 3 for the continuation senior graduation exam), according to the Director of Binh Dinh province Eduation and Training Department, Tran Van Qui.
