First six months: export turnover up US$175 mln

In the first six months of 2007 the export turnover of enterprises in Binh Dinh was estimated to record at US$19.3 mln, a surge of 48.5% compared to the same period last year. The total export turnover in the first six months reached $175.46 mln, accounting for 62.7% of the year plan and an increase of 35.8% in comparison with the same period last year. Agricultural products gained $35.1 mln, a year-on-year surge of 106.9%, forest products contributed $110.9 mln (a rise of 19.3%), seafood and aquatic products surged by 96.1% to come in at $12 mln, building materials and mineral products recorded $10.5 mln (an increase of 45.8%), and consumer industrial products were up 11.4% with $6.9 mln. The high-quality products for exporting consist of rice, slices of cassava, starch from cassava, wooden furniture.

In the first six months the provincial import turnover was estimated at $55.1 mln, accounting for 36.8% of the year plan and a year-on-year surge of 3%. The import products mainly include kinds of timber, frozen seafood, fertilizer and materials for the garment industry.
