Vinh Son 2 Hydroelectric Project receives Government’s approval

The office of the Government has announced that the Standing Deputy Prime Minister, Nguyen Sinh Hung, approved the conduction of Vinh Son 2 hydroelectric project. Accordingly, the Vinh Son-Song Hinh Hydroelectric Joint Stock Company will be responsible for the construction the 90-MW-hydroelectric plant in Binh Dinh and Gia Lai, according to the directorate of the company.

Under the project, Vinh Son 2 hydroelectric plant belongs to the Con river, operating thanks to two water reservoirs Suoi Say (K’Bang district of Gia Lai province) and Dak Kron Bung (An Lao district of Binh Dinh province). Vinh Son 2 hydroelectric plant is proposed to provide about 360 million Kwh of power per year.

The total expenditure for the project is nearly VND2 trillion. Vinh Son-Song Hinh Hydroelectric Joint Stock Company has currently planned the investment project and started building the plant. It is proposed to be operated between 2010-2011.
