The Standing Vice-Chairman of Binh Dinh province People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Thien, has chaired a meeting for conducting the storm and flood prevention, control and search and rescue. He ordered that Binh Dinh’s offshore fishing vessels have to be equipped with means of communication.

According to the provincial board of storm and flood prevention, control and search and rescue, there are 4,000 offshore fishing boats in Binh Dinh, but most of them haven’t been equipped with walktie-talkies and locating machines. Alongside this, the communication between functional bodies and fishing boats. It is, therefore, very difficult to communicate with fishermen to help them deal with natural disasters.

Leaders of the provincial People’s Committee steered Binh Dinh Aquatic Resources Department, the Border Guard’s Headquarter and relevant bodies to quickly plan for the communication between functional agencies and offshore fishing boats so that they can have timely rescue measures when there are natural disasters.
