The conference on the development cooperation between Quy Nhon and Japan’s Kitakyushu cities was held on August 2 in Quy Nhon city. Representatives of Binh Dinh’s relevant bodies and agencies and the Kitakyushu city’s delegation led by Mr. Kunanomidou, the director of Japan’s Environment Department, attended the conference.
At the conference, provincial social-economic situations and projects for development of Quy Nhon city and Binh Dinh province to 2010 and for the environmental sanitation and the Nhon Hoi Economic zone were briefly introduced. Kitakyushu city’s representatives also presented the social-economic situation, projects and experiences in building and plan the urban.
Kitakyushu city situates in the west of Japan with an area of 487 square kilometers. Its population is nearly one million people. Some fields, such as industry, trade, high technologies, are strongly developed in this city. Kitakyushu and Quy Nhon cities have some common features which can become favourable conditions for the future cooperation.
In the coming time, representatives of two cities will sign contracts for the development cooperation.
