Binh Dinh: Titanium slag factory kicked off

Binh Dinh Mineral Company (BIMICO) on September 16 kicked off Binh Dinh titanium slag factory –the first mineral sand ore of titanium deep processing factory in Binh Dinh-at Cat Nhon industrial zone in Cat Nhon Commune of Phu Cat  District.

Under the project, the factory will be built in two phases. The first phase with the investment capital of VND55 billion (US$3.43 million) will be finished by the first quarter of 2008 and the second phase with the investment capital of VND42 billion ($2.62 million) will be completed by late 2008.

The factory will have the capacity of 19,000 mts per year, including 12,000 mts per year for the titanium slag and 7,000 mts for the cast iron.

According statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Institute of Mining-Metallurgy Science and Technology, the project has the high economic effectiveness because the titanium slag is mostly used in the mechanical industry and electronics.

At the ground-breaking ceremony, BIMICO granted VND30 million to Cat Nhon Commune’s Fund for the poor.
