Vice Chairwoman of Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh on October 3 held a meeting with head of sustainable rural livelihood program (SRLP) group, Keith Milligan, and director of New Zealand International Aid and Development Agency, John Egan.

The delegation’s task was to work out issues relating to the sustainable rural livelihood program, such as the role and support of relevant bodies, according to Keith Milligan.

They expected to build specific targets for the sustainable rural livelihood program in Binh Dinh with the help of provincial bodies.

Vice Chairwoman Binh expressed many thanks to New Zealand’s Embassy, particularly NZAID for their help in some projects carried out in Binh Dinh.

She hoped that the sustainable rural livelihood program will help farmers increase their income, improve the food safety, and well manage the natural resources and environment.

Binh steered provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to cooperate with relevant bodies to prepare for the program.

The delegation visited some vegetable growing areas in Quy Nhon city and some communes relating to the program. They also worked with relevant bodies to prepare for the program.

Other NZAID’s delegation will visit Binh Dinh this week to clear up the statistics of poor households. The program will include such components as safe vegetable growing, farmers’ capacity enhancement and market development, and production development.
