Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee Le Huu Loc on October 21 received the Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF) delegation.

Two sides talked about the FHF-sponsored project on enhancing the capacity for blindness prevention carried out in Binh Dinh Eye Center.

Vice Chairman Loc emphasized that the project has provided free eye operation for over 500,000 patients. The cataract operation was also provided for 3,774 poor people.

It aided Binh Dinh with many advanced medical equipments, helping Binh Dinh Eye Center to develop, Loc said.

FHF consultant, Mr. Stephen Elsworth Cains, highly appreciated the results of the project carried out in the past three years in Binh Dinh Eye Center.

At present, the rate of blindness in Binh Dinh is still high. There is an ever-increasing demand for the eye care.

Loc hoped that FHF will continue to aid the blindness prevention in Binh Dinh and help provincial Eye Hospital to improve its conditions to meet the patients’ demands.
