Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee on November 4 held a meeting on implementing the PM’s Decision No 94/2008/QD-TTg on the general population and house investigation.

The investigation plans to take place in 15 days, starting from April 1, 2009. It will target all Vietnamese citizens who permanently live in Vietnam, those who are permitted to leave the country under the regulated period, and houses in Vietnam.

At present, the preparations for the investigation are ready, including the establishment of the provincial steering board, planning, and training courses.

Provincial Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh emphasized that localities must consider the investigation as one of the key tasks.

The popularization needs strengthening to raise the people’s awareness about the importance of the investigation. Functional bodies must have plans to ensure the security and the secret of personal information, she added.

The investigation aims to collect the basic statistics for the population and house, aiding the study, analysis, and forecast on the population and house development nationwide.

Collected statistics are also expected to be used for the consideration of the 2000-2009 socio-economic development, the 2010-2020 socio-economic development planning, and the UN Millennium Development Goals.
