Preparations for storm prevention
16:57', 9/11/ 2008 (GMT+7)

The provincial Standing Board for Storm and Flood Control – Search and Rescue on November 7 attended a teleconference chaired by Permanent Deputy PM Nguyen Sinh Hung.

At the teleconference, Hung steered the National Steering Committee for Storm and Flood Control, the National Committee for Search and Rescue and localities to be ready for dealing with the storm no 9.

Often, there will be floods after storm, causing difficulties for the rescue and relief, he said. Provinces must store enough food, medicines, and essential facilities in flood-hit areas.

Measures to ensure the safety for water reservoirs, dams, schools, and key works need focusing. Local authorities have to plan measures to evacuate people and inform fishermen about storms, he added.
