Vice Chairwoman of Binh Dinh provincial People’s Committee held a meeting with director of the UK-based Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), Dario Gentili, on November 24 on the support for impaired children and the HIV/AIDS prevention program.
VSO has now operated in 15 provinces and cities in Vietnam, according to Mr. Gentili. It has cooperated with schools in some provinces to support the specialized education for visually, hearing-impaired children.
VSO wanted to provide more educational activities for impaired children in some high schools and vocational training centers in Quy Nhon city, he said. The VSO representative also hoped to help Binh Dinh in preventing the HIV/AIDS spread.
Provincial Vice Chairwoman Binh briefed on the education for impaired children in Binh Dinh. Currently, provincial People’s Committee has decided to set up a specialized school for disabled children, but it has to face the lack of facilities and the teaching staff, which needs the VSO’s support.
The spread of HIV/AIDS in Binh Dinh isn’t as serious as in other provinces, according to Binh, but there is still the potential risk. It’s, therefore, necessary to have projects aiding the HIV/AIDS prevention center.
