Permanent Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thien received the interministerial delegation of Ministries of Planning and Investment, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Finance on March 13.

At the meeting, the safety of irrigation works in Binh Dinh was discussed. Reports stated that 355 irrigation works including 154 water reservoirs have effectively operated in the past few years, contributing to the poverty-alleviation movement.

Owing to many factors, however, 40 irrigation works are now in bad condition, which needs repairing to ensure the safety in the flood prevention.

As planned, 30 works have to be upgraded from now to 2010 with the estimated capital of over VND318 billion.

Due to the limited budget, provincial People’s Committee asked the delegation to submit the plan for the Government’s approval so that Binh Dinh can receive the aid for the annual upgrade of irrigation works.
