Fishermen need fast aid
20:21', 13/8/ 2008 (GMT+7)

The delegation led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Viet Thang paid a working visit to Binh Dinh on August 12.

Permanent Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thien and leaders of relevant bodies received the delegation.

Reports stated that 2,000 fishing vessels have stopped operating due to the price increase. Provincial functional bodies held training courses for fishermen and granted over 800 licenses to fishermen.

Provincial People’s Committee was asked to allocate VND60 billion to aid fishermen in operating their fishing vessels.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was asked to support fishermen in taking out vessel insurance.

Provincial People’s Committee also asked for the expenditure for the construction of Tam Quan anchoring area and the upgrade of Quy Nhon fishing port and De Gi fishing port – phase 2.

Speaking at the meeting, Thang said that Binh Dinh needed to soon support fishermen under the Decision No 289, helping them overcome difficulties.

He also asked Binh Dinh to soon submit all formalities for the Ministry’s approval to aid Binh Dinh in conducting projects.
