The provincial leaders and representatives of Fred Hollows Foundation in Vietnam on Jan. 14 agreed to implement an eye care project in Binh Dinh from 2009-2012.

The project worth nearly US$500,000 will be implemented in four Districts of Hoai Nhon, Hoai An, An Lao, and Van Canh.

It aims at setting up a sustainable community-based eye care network to considerably reduce the number of blind people and help people easily use eye care services.

The project will also offer free cataract operation for 3,600 poor patients, provide human resources training and eye-related diseases, and enhance the awareness of eye care in the community.
