The PM just decided to allocate VND225 billion from the central spare budget and 10,000 tons of rice from the national reserve for central provinces which were devastated by tropical storm Mirinae.

Binh Dinh Province will receive VND70 billion and 3,000 tons of rice, Phú Yên VND100 billion and 4,000 tons; Khánh Hòa VND20 billion and 1,000 tons; Ninh Thuận VND5 billion; Gia Lai VND30 billion and 2,000 tons of rice.

These amounts of money and rice are used to prevent hunger, purchase crop varieties, and repair infrastructure (schools, clinics, irrigation works, and roads) and cover environment hygiene work.

The Government leader also required the provincial authorities to use their own local spare budgets and mobilize other legitimate financial sources to mitigate consequences of the storm.

Tropical storm Mirinae swept through central coastal province on Monday, causing nearly 100 deaths, 66 people injured and 20 missing.

The initial damage is estimated to be about VND76 billion.
