Socio-economic situation improves despite difficulties

Binh Dinh has faced many disadvantages, such as financial crisis, global economic regression, natural disaster, and the spread of flu A/H1N1, affecting the socio-economic situation in 2009, according to the reports presented at a meeting held by Binh Dinh People’s Committee on November 27.

However, the province has still maintained the development thanks to the Government’s stimulus packages and prompt measures to overcome disasters and strengthen the production.

The reports also said the province’s GDP surged by 7.96 percent over 2008, of which industry and construction saw an increase of 7.43 percent, services 9.02 percent, and agriculture-forest-aquatic products 7.3 percent.

Alongside these, social-cultural activities as well as the people’s living standard showed some improvement.

Still, there are several shortcomings, including unstable economic growth and high number of traffic accidents.

The province’s socio-economic situation is forecast to face many difficulties. All relevant bodies and agencies are, therefore, required to make all-out efforts to carry out the 2010’s plans, aiming to fulfill the five-year plan (2006-2010) and create favorable conditions for the socio-economic development in the next five years.

Accordingly, functional bodies need to improve the investment environment, boost the industrial production, improve the function of services, maintain the stable growth in fields of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, and consolidate the development of social-cultural activities and national defense.
