The construction of Linh Phong Buddha-dharma complex was granted the license in Quy Nhon city on December 21.

Construction work began on August 29 at Cat Tien commune in the central coastal province of Binh Dinh.

As designed, the complex, covering 63.4 ha, will have an area reserved for a statue of 54m-tall Sakyamuni Buddha, which is believed to be the tallest statue of its kind in the country, and the 30,000 sq.m Phap Luan (Dharma-cakra) Square.

The complex will also include the Linh Phong pagoda, a park and a recreational and service area.

Those works are expected to be completed by 2011. It will then be followed by the construction of a 700m cable car route linking with the Phap Luan Square.
