A ceremony to launch “Action month for food hygiene and safety” was held in Quy Nhon city on April 12, by Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee.
The theme for this year’s Action Month is the community’s responsibility to ensure safe and hygienic food.
The Action Month aims to increase the role and responsibility of management agencies, businesses, consumers and administrations at all levels to inform the public of the government’s legislation on food safety and hygiene.
Speaking at the ceremony, the province’s Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh asked the provincial bodies and agencies must strengthen their responsibility in ensuring food hygiene and safety, strictly punishing any violations and enhancing the public’s awareness of the issue.
She also called on cosumers to actively join the campaign. They must be “smart consumers”, said Binh.
Four cases of food poisoning took place in the province last year, affecting 19 people.
