The METRO Cash&Carry supermarket chain on January 20 signed with Binh Dinh authorities an investment agreement to build a wholesale market in the province’s Quy Nhon City.
The agreement, signed during the "Binh Dinh – Attractive Destination for Investors" conference, will establish the chain’s second outlet in the central coastal region and the 12th nationwide.
The new METRO wholesale centre will be located on a 3ha area and stock more than 25,000 food and non-food items.
The company will invest some US$15 million in the Quy Nhon wholesale centre which is scheduled to become operational later this year.
According to Nguyen Van Thien, chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee, developing trade and building strong infrastructure to support a high-quality tourism industry are among the major tasks set by the province in the coming years. In a year-end report released last month, Thien had said that the province would create a supportive environment for upgrading the quality of its service industries.
Randy Guttery, managing director of METRO Cash&Carry Viet Nam, said Binh Dinh was a dynamic and progressive province with a growth of 7.96 per cent last year.
"A METRO Cash&Carry wholesale centre will add and contribute to the growth."
