A workshop on building the plan for the development of ethnic minority groups and gender was held in Quy Nhon on September 30.

The participants worked out measures to enhance the quality of the population, shorten the gap of gender inequality in ethnic minority areas, and promote the implementation of policies on health and education.

All bodies need to thoroughly understand that the poverty and gender inequality are parallel; thus they must raise their awareness of the issues and gradually improve the living standard in ethnic minority areas.

The local authorities and organizations were asked to focus on solving urgent issues on gender inequality and domestic violence.

The workshop met the demand for improving the understanding and concern on gender equality in mountainous areas in Binh Dinh.

Binh Dinh now has 31 ethnic minority groups mainly locating in mountainous districts of An Lao, Vinh Thanh and some communes in districts of Tay Son, Hoai An, and Phu Cat.
