Binh Dinh has developed so far 210 high yield rice fields with the total cultivated areas of 5,259 ha and at least VND50 million per ha per year, said Binh Dinh Centre of Agriculture and Fishery Promotion.

16 models of crop rotation or intercropping of various plants like rice, peanut, soya, corn, onion, bitter melon, cucumber, waky pumpkin, chili, papaya, and manioc were completed.

Notably, the model of 3-crop-per-year onion plantation at Thuan Nghia village, Phu Phong town, Tay Son district annually gives VND328 million per ha; the model of cucumber-peanut- bitter melon intercropping at Huu Giang hamlet, Tay Giang commune, Tay district provides VND225 million per ha every year; peanut-onion intercropping at Cat Hai commune, Phu Cat district generates over VND80 million per ha per year.

Thanks to the success of the high yield rice field models, many localities decided to give up rice monoculture. Local farmers, thus, boosts their production efficiency.
