Boosting reservoir protection in rainy season
14:11', 22/10/ 2010 (GMT+7)

Binh Dinh has 162 reservoirs with the total capacity of over 700 million of cubic metres, said Binh Dinh Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control, Search and Rescue.

Among them, 35 reservoirs are being severely degraded, proposing dangerous threats in the upcoming rainy season because they were built long ago and the budget for their repair was insufficient.

The provincial People’s Committee has ordered the agriculture sector to co-operate with the local localities and the reservoir managers in drawing out plans of protecting the degraded reservoirs.

The reservoirs which are unable to pass flood tests must not be allowed to hold water so that regrettable damages won’t take place.
