A signing ceremony of supporting the two alliances of sustainable soya seed production and cross-bred cow raising improvement took place on November 13 at two communes of Nhon Hau (An Nhon district) and Tay Thuan (Tay Son district). The 2 alliances are among newly-built manufacturing alliances of World Bank – financed Agriculture Competitiveness Project.
The alliance of sustainable soya seed production is a partnership between Quy Nhon Tree Services Co., Ltd. and Nhon Hau – based Farmer Co-operative. Its investment capital is over 6.743 billion VND, in which the company makes up more than 3 billion VND, the farmers contribute over 2,2 billion VND and the project covers the rest over 1.494 billion VND. The company will provide the seed, transfer technology and buy all of the harvested produces at higher prices than in the markets. The farmer co-operative has 156 members who cultivate over 80ha/2 crops of soya seeds with output of 25 quintals per hectare.
The alliance of sustainable cross-bred cow raising improvement is a joint business between Binh An Co., Ltd and Tay Thuan Agriculture Co-operative. Its total investment capital is over 6.9 billion VND, in which the company invests 275 million VND, the co-operative contributes more than 5.1 billion VND and the project covers more than 1.5 billion VND. 68 farmer households participate in the project. They expect to increase the cow herd size to 405. The farmers will be assisted to improve quality of the cattle breeding and the company will buy harvested cows which satisfy all required standards at higher prices than in the markets.
