A workshop on evaluating the effect of climate change on Phuoc Son commune, Tuy Phuoc district was held in Quy Nhon yesterday (December 1).
Binh Dinh Department of Natural Resources and Environment coordinated with the Institute for Social and Environmental Transition, National Institute for Science and Technology Policy and Strategy Studies, and the Southern Institute of Water Resources Research to organize the event.
At the workshop, many reports stated that the experts have carried out many studies on the effects of climate change in Phuoc Son since early 2009.
The results showed that Phuoc Son commune often suffers severe storms, floods, and droughts. Basing on what has been found, the experts suggested some specific goals, such as building the flood drainage system, upgrading dykes, and preventing floods in the lowland areas.
