Binh Dinh Province’s GDP reaches an annual average growth rate of 10.9 percent during five years of implementing the socio-economic target (2006-2010), according to the report released by provincial People’s Committee.
The province’s budget revenue sees an annual average increase of 22.6 percent whilst the GDP per capita rises to US$940 per year.
Binh Dinh also sees many advancements in fields of education, health, science-technology, culture and sports. The people’s living standard has been improved while the national defense, political security, and public order are under control.
However, the report still showed many shortcomings. The economic development, for example, is not sustainable, the quality and competitiveness of products are not high, and some targets fall short of expectations.
In addition, the poverty reduction program hasn’t yet met the demand and the rural security along the coastal route is still problematic.
Binh Dinh will focus on obtaining high economic growth rates and combining the economy development with social issues in the 2011-2015 period. It is expected to basically become an industrial province by 2020.
The province also set the key targets for the 2011-2015 period as follows: the annual average GDP increases 13-14 percent; the rate of poor households reduces by 1.5-2 percent each year; the average GDP per capita reaches over US$2000 by 2-15.
