The Ministry of Planning and Investment and Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee jointly organized a mid-term review meeting of the environmental hygiene project in central coastal cities of Quy Nhon, Dong Hoi, and Nha Trang in Quy Nhon on December 10.

The project which had an initial investment of US$172 million supported by the WB includes two phases of which the first phase is from 2007-2011 and the second sees from 2008-2014 with 6 components.

Three cities have made all-out efforts in implementing the components, improving the submergence and environment, according to the WB’s reports.

However, the first-phase progress in Quy Nhon and Nha Trang fell short of expectations. As for the project carried out in Quy Nhon, the disbursement value only reached over 16 percent of the credit.

The WB’s officials asked the local authorities to speed up the progress of components, aiming to finish the project in time.

The representatives of participating cities vowed to promote the progress and asked the WB to add more capital as there are some changes.
