Binh Dinh Eye Hospital organized a program focusing on refractive error in school, offering free medical test to junior high school students in two districts of Hoai An and An Lao in 2010.

More than 7,500 students received free eye exams, of which 515 were found with refractive error and 250 were offered free glasses.

The hospital also held a training course for 17 medical workers in school, helping them acquire the knowledge of refractive error and eye care.

Participating schools were provided with documents and facilities related to eye care and refractive error prevention for students.

The programme was funded by Australia’s Fred Hollows Foundation.
