Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee Ho Quoc Dung on December 14 chaired the meeting to review five years of implementing the national program No.135 in disadvantaged communes and hamlets in Binh Dinh.

Thanks to the local and central budgets, over VND157.5 billion was poured into infrastructure, production, and official training in the disadvantaged communes during five years.

329 key works, including roads, irrigation works, and medical clinics, were built, improving the living standard in the rural, far and remote areas. The local people and ethnic minority groups were offered favourable conditions to escape from poverty.

Alongside these, other programs, projects, and preferential policies also played an important role in reducing the rate of poor households in the disadvantaged areas.

Speaking at the meeting, provincial Vice Chairman Dung highly appreciated the five-year results of the program and other policies in the 2006-2010 period.

He also asked the localities to focus on evaluating the results and learning experiences from the program.
